In the future, we may look back upon 2009 as the year that food & drink blogs finally started to make a difference.
The quality & quantity of writing has never been higher, as evidenced by the blogs listed below. Each of these nine sites began publishing in 2009 & here a few notables explain why these are there favorites.

SITE: Eat and Greet
PUBLISHER: Kiira Leess
WHO SAYS SO: Matt Sitomer said, “Kiira is entertaining & shares thoughts on mostly food explorations but also entertaining, city-dwelling, wine, & life.”

SITE: Think Wine Marketing
PUBLISHER: John Corcoran
WHO SAYS SO: Bob Dwyer said, “John Corcoran writes in a long-form style, but when I set aside his pieces & read them I learn fascinating stuff about the wine trade. It’s somewhat industry related, but I find it to be one of the best blogs out there period. He’s also been an invaluable resource for connecting me with people in the CA wine trade for interviews & information. A truly generous & helpful guy.”

SITE: WineZag
PUBLISHER: Adam Japko
WHO SAYS SO: Bob Dwyer also said, “Just a real honest collection of writing from someone with a long history with wine that likes to share his passion with the world.”

SITE: Burgundiva
PUBLISHER: Erica Mitchell Christie
WHO SAYS SO: Galen Struwe said, “I found a few very good new blogs in 2009 but probably my new favorite is from a young lady in New York, Erica Mitchell Christie. Her blog is nothing short of refreshing. She brings a natural voice to her writing & possesses a genuine love & knowledge for wine. She’s got the tools & it’s obvious she’s working from pure love of the game and not just some look-at-me, look-at-me cry for attention.”

SITE: Hosemaster of Wine
PUBLISHER: Ron Washam
WHO SAYS SO: Erin McGrath said, “The wine industry is a ridiculous circus & the Hosemaster of Wine is refreshingly honest & hilarious commentary.”

SITE: Drink Nectar
PUBLISHER: Josh Wade
WHO SAYS SO: Rich Auffrey said, “Though only started in November, Josh has been doing a very good job, with well written posts, interesting videos, plenty of photos & a touch of wit. His blog covers both wine & coffee, especially in the northwest & Spokane areas. He has also been active on Twitter. I think Drink Nectar has a lot of potential.”

SITE: Swirl Smell Slurp
PUBLISHER: Sacha Baumann and Jason F. King
WHO SAYS SO: Josh Wade said, “I like Swirl Smell Slurp because it’s urban & hip.”

SITE: VineGeek
PUBLISHER: Jim Wilkerson
WHO SAYS SO: Josh Wade also said, “I like VineGeek because it’s informative, fun & unpretentious, but still provides trusty reviews.”
