Overheard

  • Bernard: No one is willing to admit that wine doesn't actually have a taste.
  • Manny: Of course you can't taste anything, you smoke eighty bajillion cigarettes a day. What's that you're eating?
  • Bernard: Some sort of delicious biscuit.
  • Manny: It's a coaster.
  • Bernard: Is it? Are there any more?

And I Was There!

I don’t think I’ve ever been present when a world record was set - until now.

Decanter.com reports that:

Boston-based auctioneer Skinner – a newcomer to wine – has set world records for a Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Screaming Eagle and Harlan Estate. At its fine wine sale on 19 September, Skinner sold a three-bottle lot of Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Romanée Conti 1911 for US$20,250 per bottle – over triple the estimate.

Cool! Drinks are on the winning bidder!
